Ruidoso, New Mexico Horse Property

Looking for horse property in Ruidoso, New Mexico? What an ideal place to have horses! So much beautiful riding country and designated horse trails ... This is high country and horses thrive extremely well. My horses are usually "full of their oats" with the brisk cool air offered year around.

I ride quite often ... we live near Fort Stanton and they have some great riding trails that seem to go on forever. Even nicer is many trails offer ample shade during your ride.

Here's some further info on a few of our local Ruidoso Trails:

"FORT STANTON: Explore more than 25,000 acres of back country in Fort Stanton, where the 19th-century cavalry, Buffalo Soldiers, Kit Carson and Billy the Kid roamed and soldiered. Fort Stanton Cave has 8 miles of passage to roam around in. The entire area, except the state historic fort / correctional facility are public lands for your enjoyment. Camping and picnics permitted on BLM public lands within Fort Stanton Special Management Area. Camps must be located 1/4 mile from paved highways, and no more than 100 feet from a designated road or the Rio Bonito River. Check with your local BLM field office about permits and permission, or call the Roswell Field Office at (505) 627-0272. Located 60 miles west of Roswell on U.S. Highway 380, and 15 miles east of Ruidoso/Alto, via State Road 220.

CAPITAN, NEW MEXICO: Capitan Horse and Mountain Bike Trail - 7.5 miles long, elevation from 6,200 to 6,800 feet, few areas steep and rocky, easy to difficult.

BONITO LAKE AREA: Lincoln Horse and Mountain Bike Trail - 10 miles long, elevation from 6,200 to 6,800 feet, steep and rocky in places, easy. Rio Bonito Petroglyph National Recreation Hiking Trail - Explore the distant past on this trail where the prehistoric Mogollon Indians lived. View ancient petroglyphs. 2 miles long. Easy to moderate."

Ruidoso Horse Property is readily available throughout the Lincoln County area ... some areas to consider include:

Fort Stanton Road and Vicinity ... where I personally live ... allows horses. There are some nice horse properties available even now throughout this area ... from 2 to 5 acre lots on average with some that already have built-in horse facilities.

Ranches of Sonterra offers on average 5 Acre tracts that allow 2 horses per tract ... many prebuilt homes are offered for sale at a great value in this area. And, you may optionally still buy nice tracts of land for building to your taste.

There are also available horse properties in the Eagle Creek area ... this is a beautiful valley area with several ranches and homes up for sale even now ... a river also runs through this valley so many of the homes offer riverfront views.

Throughout Alto, New Mexico you'll find ranches with horses ... scattered all over the countryside in Alto are available ranch-style properties ... all offering a variety of horse facilities.

Nogal is also a possibility for finding a horse ranch that fits your needs. Lots of open country here ... the views are expansive and there are on average larger tracts of land available throughout Nogal, New Mexico.

Although at a greater distance from Ruidoso, Capitan, New Mexico also offers some good values for horse properties with even some ranches with larger acreage.
